Rosie Kang
For more than five years, Rosie Kang has been an active member of AWWEE, valuing the opportunity to connect with other women across the energy and environmental sectors. She appreciates having a space where women can share experiences, mentor one another, and build meaningful professional relationships. A standout AWWEE moment for Rosie was hearing Janisse Quiñones, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer of LADWP, speak at the most recent AWWEE conference. Rosie found her reflections on family, motherhood, and career decisions both relatable and inspiring.
Rosie is a Vice President at Willdan Energy Solutions, where she currently leads outreach efforts for a new commercial energy efficiency program. A key focus of her work has been developing and implementing a comprehensive training program for community outreach staff across a large regional area. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations deeply rooted in hard-to-reach communities, Rosie and her team have hired and trained outreach staff who authentically represent and serve their neighborhoods. This approach has not only driven strong program enrollment but has also built lasting trust and expanded access to energy efficiency services for historically underserved businesses.
Rosie describes her role as a blend of implementation, creativity, and business development. She enjoys that these elements are deeply interconnected, allowing her to contribute across multiple dimensions of program success.
Outside of work, Rosie is deeply committed to advocacy for children and women. She recently completed four and a half years as a court appointed special advocate with CASA of Los Angeles and is now pursuing volunteer work with RAINN. She draws inspiration from Sophia Jex Blake, a pioneering physician and feminist who fought for women’s access to education. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time along the Pioneer Rancho Walk Path.
