MIKE CORDOVA
We’re pleased to feature Mike Cordova, Associate Distribution Engineer for Pacific Gas & Electric this month. Mike joined AWWEE in summer 2024 and has quickly become a familiar face at both in-person and virtual events. He is also serving as a mentor in the 2025 cohort of The Exchange mentoring program. Male allies play an important role in the professional advancement of women, and we are excited to recognize Mike for his active participation in AWWEE and his commitment to supporting others.
Mike is the Sacramento Area Lead for both the PG&E Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the PG&E National Society for Black Engineers, and he serves as Co-Director of the Working Parents Group at PG&E. Mike is also a steward for Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC), where he works on the transitions for natural gas workers towards decarbonization.
Mike is the proud parent of two sons. His youngest son, Cruz, has sensorineural hearing loss and ataxic cerebral palsy. When Cruz was first diagnosed with hearing loss 12 years ago, Mike learned that PG&E’s health benefits did not cover cochlear implant surgery for children under 2. Mike and his wife advocated to expand the coverage to not only enable Cruz to receive this life-changing procedure but to ensure this valuable benefit was available to dependents of other PG&E employees. Over the years, Mike’s colleagues at PG&E have supported Cruz’s former school, Children’s Choice for Hearing and Talking (CCHAT) in Sacramento. This support motivated Mike to become more deeply involved in the Working Parents Group at PG&E.
In his free time, Mike enjoys dog walking and visiting the Barge Canal in Sacramento where he often spots California sea lions feeding.
