Laura Correa-Hernandez
AWWEE is proud to spotlight Laura Correa-Hernandez, whose commitment to community, public service, and accessible clean energy reflects the power of inclusive leadership.
An AWWEE member for three years, Laura values the genuine connections she has built with women across the water, energy, and environmental fields. Her first AWWEE conference was especially memorable. As someone relatively new to the energy field, she was inspired to see women from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of their careers coming together, supporting one another, and making an impact across the industry. Today, Laura gives back to that community as the leader of AWWEE’s Bay Area Events Planning Team.
As a Public Information Representative II with San José Clean Energy, Laura helps residents understand clean energy and connect with programs and resources available to them. Her work brings together communications, community engagement, marketing, and public service, with an emphasis on making information accessible, culturally appropriate, and responsive to different language and communication needs.
One project she is especially proud of is San José Clean Energy’s EV Ride & Drive event. Laura helped coordinate the event with community organizations, vendors, City departments, and partners, giving residents an opportunity to test drive electric vehicles, ask questions, and learn more about rebates and clean energy programs.
For Laura, making complex information useful and approachable is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
Outside of work, Laura loves spending time with her family, cooking, visiting farmers markets, supporting her kids at their sporting events, and volunteering. She also draws inspiration from Dolores Huerta, whose courage, advocacy, and commitment to creating opportunities for future generations resonate with Laura’s own values around public service and community.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are honored to celebrate Laura and the leadership, perspective, and dedication she brings to San José Clean Energy and our AWWEE community.
