RACHEL MELTON
Rachel Melton is the Operations and Compliance Analysis Technical Lead at the California ISO. In this role, Rachel collaborates with a diverse group of internal and external partners involved with compliance, technology, operations and more to ensure compliance with strict industry regulations and standards. She researches events that may have just occurred in real-time and supports compliance questions from internal and external customers. Recently, Rachel finished an outreach effort which included collaborative meetings with ISO customers requesting additional data in response to an ongoing, extreme cold weather project led by NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation).
Rachel has been an active AWWEE member since 2019 and has served as a Team Leader twice – first for the professional development webinar planning team and for the team focused on energy webinars. Being part of the AWWEE community is what Rachel values most about her membership - she enjoys the balance of events, opportunities for professional development, and being of service to fellow members. Rachel also participated in this year’s Summer Book Club, where she joined us in reading Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear.
In her free time, Rachel and her dogs enjoy hiking and exploring local parks and trails in her area. Last year, she organized a hike to summit Mt. Shasta with Women Who Hike NorCal.
We couldn’t end Rachel’s profile without sharing one last fun fact - in 2021, Rachel and her fiancé jumped (literally!) on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to say “I do” as they ziplined across Catalina Island.
