LESLIE YEN
Leslie was originally introduced to AWWEE while working at Rincon Consultants in 2019. There she noticed that AWWEE was unlike other industry associations she had checked out in the past - the people at AWWEE events were and continue to be the most friendly, supportive, and accepting. Leslie’s engagement with AWWEE ramped up in 2020 when she started volunteering to help organize events. Leslie served as the team leader for our San Diego regional event planning team from 2020-2025. You might have met her at the event at Pure Project brewery last month.
In the past, Leslie was a bit of an extreme sports athlete – doing tricks on both snowboards and skateboards. These hobbies taught her to always wear PPE, take time to rest, and to listen to her body. Good lessons for us all!
Since she’s a biologist, it’s no surprise that Leslie enjoys spending time outdoors. Her favorite spot in San Diego is Cabrillo National Monument. She shares that from the monument you get great views of San Diego, the harbor, the Naval Stations, and even Mexico on clear days! It’s also a great place for whale watching, tide pooling, and birding.
