AMY WHITEHOUSE
Amy Whithouse is a Senior Program Manager at San Diego Community Power (SDCP), where she plays a leading role in launching the region’s first Regional Energy Network (REN). With a career deeply rooted in energy efficiency work, Amy is passionate about the power and potential of local energy programs to drive community-focused change. She is particularly proud to lead San Diego REN’s Tribal Engagement Program—one of the first REN programs tailored specifically for Tribal communities. For Amy, supporting San Diego’s vibrant and diverse communities in achieving their energy and resilience goals is not only a professional honor but also a personal mission.
Amy has been a proud member of AWWEE for nine years, and her connection to the community has had a lasting impact on her professional journey. Early in her career, she participated in AWWEE’s mentorship program while working toward a promotion. The experience proved invaluable as she and her mentor both earned promotions that year, and they joyfully reconnected years later at the 2024 AWWEE conference. Amy credits this experience with capturing the genuine support and lasting community that define the AWWEE network. Amy now serves as AWWEE's San Diego Team Leader, continuing to foster that same spirit of connection and support for others.
When asked who inspires her most, Amy points to her circle of close female friends who have profoundly shaped her life. She cites their support and company as a constant source of inspiration and grounding for her.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys exploring San Diego’s Tri-Canyon network, a system of trails in the heart of the city where she hikes, runs, and bikes. Amy is always finding something new to appreciate outdoors with each season.
