JANELVA WILLIAMS
Meet Janelva Williams, Liaison for the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Division at Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP), and Team Leader for AWWEE’s Los Angeles Regional Team.
In her most recent role at LADWP, Janelva works to coordinate with various city agencies, government organizations, and other departments, focusing on problem-solving and promoting programs, services and other opportunities to support residents, customers, and businesses in LA. Just prior to her recent transition to Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs this past Fall, Janelva supported DWP's Power New Business Division as a lead program support specialist. During her eight year tenure there, she helped launch phase one of a 5-year project to revamp internal and customer-facing processes and systems for DWP's Net Energy Metering, a popular renewable energy customer program. The project aims to enhance the overall customer experience by reviewing processes and systems, upgrading the website, automating parts of systems, and reducing processing times. The project is aspirational, complex, and challenging, but worth the journey.
Janelva joined AWWEE in April of 2019 and began her role as Team Leader for the Los Angeles region in early 2023. Beyond collaborating to bring AWWEE members events in the Los Angeles region, Janelva has enjoyed the opportunity to connect with fellow women on the team who are also working in STEM fields.
Janelva is fluent in Spanish and enjoying practicing with her daughter who is learning the language in middle school. Janelva enjoys spending time with family - traveling, sharing new experiences, and exploring new and delicious recipes with her spouse! When she needs to decompress after a long day, you can find Janelva at the beach enjoying a leisurely walk along the shore to watching the waves crash and the yachts and boats as they come and go.
