Cindy Jeong
Cindy Jeong, an AWWEE member for four years, thrives on the thoughtful events and strong community that our organization fosters. She enjoys connecting with passionate women across the water, energy, and environmental sectors and draws inspiration from their shared commitment to improving our world. Cindy previously served on our Bay Area Volunteer Team, helping organize local events and programs. One of her favorite experiences with AWWEE was co-coordinating a sustainable winemaking tour at Donkey & Goat in Berkeley, where members explored environmentally responsible winemaking, followed by great wine and even better conversation.
Cindy is a SCADA Engineer at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, where she ensures the continuous, autonomous operation of the city’s water transmission and distribution systems. SCADA, or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, enables operators to remotely monitor and control critical infrastructure. Cindy and her team handle a broad range of responsibilities, including application development, network configuration, process control programming, data administration, and hardware maintenance. She recently co-led an in-house project to upgrade all programmable logic controllers at the Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant, modernizing a 20- to 25-year-old system while keeping operations running seamlessly.
She loves the puzzle solving nature of SCADA work, troubleshooting complex systems and integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure.
Outside of work, Cindy enjoys hiking around the Bay Area, savoring morning coffee at Twin Peaks, and playing piano, guitar, and flute. She is inspired by Emily Warren Roebling, whose leadership during the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge broke barriers for women in engineering.
