Camille Castillo
Camille Castillo is an Engineer at West Basin Municipal Water District, where she is a project manager for the Capital Improvement Program and Rehabilitation and Replacement projects. One of her most notable projects nearing completion is the Palos Verdes Recycled Water Pipeline and Pump Station which helps to maximize the use of recycled water for irrigation and reduce the region’s reliance on imported water.
For Camille, the most rewarding part of her career is contributing to solutions for Southern California’s water challenges. She enjoys leveraging her technical expertise by reviewing engineering design, overseeing construction of infrastructure, and analyzing treatment processes, all while collaborating with her team to bring projects to life.
Beyond her professional role, Camille loves the outdoors and can often be found hiking the mountains surrounding Los Angeles, camping along the coast, or exploring the diverse food scene in Long Beach. When indoors, she enjoys recreating dishes inspired by Chef’s Table and cheering on her favorite teams: the LA Sparks, Angel City FC, and the Dodgers. Recently, she read Kuleana by Sara Kehaulani Goo, which she highly recommends for anyone interested in Hawaiian culture and contemporary issues.
Camille has been an AWWEE member for four years and currently serves as a volunteer on the AWWEE Los Angeles Planning Team. She values the connections she’s made with others who share her passion for water and the environment and especially appreciates the opportunities to learn at AWWEE events and be inspired by the work of fellow members across the industry.
