Eco-Exploration Day: Hands-On Learning and Green Infrastructure at College Hill Learning Garden - Family Friendly Event!

Join fellow AWWEE members for this special family friendly Saturday morning gathering!

College Hill Learning Garden is an education and demonstration garden that is designed to teach local students about how they can help cities transition to ecologically friendly water, food, energy, and waste systems. Open to the public since April 2016, the garden is owned, maintained, and operated by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC).

This is a family friendly event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their kiddos along for the experience.

Younger attendees will participate in Learning Garden programming and adults will enjoy a green infrastructure tour, with interactive features such as solar panels, rain gardens, vegetable planters, and more.


Presented By:

Metzali Andrade is the College Hill Learning Garden Manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), she manages an urban field trip program and learning garden where San Francisco K-12 students learn about ecoliteracy, environmental education, stewardship, water, power, and wastewater concepts.

During the 2023-2024 academic year, Metzali coordinated and delivered 89 field trips for over 2,000 K-12 San Francisco students ensuring 60% of these students served are from schools located in environmental justice communities, schools in walking distance of the College Hill Learning Garden, and schools directly impacted by the SFPUC’s services.

Currently, Metzali plays a pivotal role in her agency as she manages the only active and in person educational program staffed and operated by SFPUC staff.

This is a special free event for both members and non-members. Please have one person register per party. Note on the registration form the number of children and adults in your group.
