With AB 685, signed into law by Governor Brown on September 12, 2012, California became the first state to create legislation that declares that people have a right to clean, safe, and quality drinking water. At the same time, water agencies must balance providing water as a basic human right with the cost of producing safe, clean drinking water and getting it to their customers.
This event will discuss how different organizations and water agencies are working together to ensure equitable water rates for California residents while maintaining the revenue needed for the supply and treatment of quality drinking water.
