Morning Walking Meditation at the CalCCA Conference

  • California State Capitol World Peace Rose Garden 1317 15th Street Sacramento, CA, 95814 United States (map)

We know many current AWWEE members will be attending the CalCCA conference in Sacrameno and we’d love to connect with you there!

Start your day with intention and connection at this guided walking meditation, led by AWWEE Executive Director Mayela Manasjan at the California State Capitol World Peace Rose Garden, which is walking distance from the Convention Center. Aimless Walking: Resetting Attention and Energy Through Open Awareness invites participants to slow down, step outside of routine thinking, and engage more fully with their surroundings.

Mayela brings a unique and deeply rooted perspective to this practice. Prior to joining AWWEE, she spent six years at Casa Werma in Pátzcuaro, Mexico, a sanctuary dedicated to practice, reflection, and connection. Set in a region known for its rich cultural traditions and natural beauty, Casa Werma offers a space for renewal, creativity, and contemplative practice. The land itself carries a profound legacy, where Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche composed The Roar of Werma, and its spirit continues to foster presence and awareness.

Rather than focusing on a set destination, this practice emphasizes spacious awareness, encouraging participants to move gently while noticing thoughts, sensations, and the environment around them. Through this approach, attendees can step out of habitual thought patterns, reconnect with the present moment, and cultivate a sense of clarity and resilience.

This session offers a refreshing and grounding way to begin the day alongside fellow conference attendees, creating space for both personal reflection and meaningful connection.
