Kid-Friendly Virtual Chat with Energy “Everyday Superheroes”

Help empower young girls to become leaders in STEM fields by attending our first ever AWWEE event for kids!

Erin Twamley

Join us and Erin Twamley, coauthor of one of the newest illustrated children's books, Everyday Superheroes: Women in Energy Careers.

The book features thirty-four real-life energy superheroes powering our planet. We'll be joined on Saturday morning by two "superheroes" from the book who will share about the work they do to care for the planet and answer questions.

Dr. Newsha Ajami is a hydrologist and professor.  Dr. Ajami is passionate about researching water resources and sharing information. Born and raised in Iran, she loved math and puzzles from an early age. Dr. Ajami now studies the connection between water and energy use in our communities.

Christina Calabrese is an environmental scientist and the director of environmental affairs and permitting for EDP Renewables North America. Christina leads a team of twelve scientists and engineers to protect plants and animals near solar and wind farms. Christina loves helping to build energy projects that are environmentally friendly.

Help us energize future superheroes!

To help inspire even more young people, AWWEE has set a goal to collect 70 books to donate to The NEED Project, a national energy education nonprofit.  You can support the cause in the following ways:

  • Donate a copy directly at this link - please note in the “special instructions” at check out that your purchase is a donation for the AWWEE event

We look forward to an engaging discussion for members and the kids in their lives!
