Are you thinking of ways to reduce the amount of waste and packaging in your life? Join us on Sunday morning at The Village General Store & Refillery in downtown Roseville, CA. We’ll have special access before they open for the day to tour the store, learn about simple low-waste swaps you can make at home, get trained on the refill process, and of course, time to shop and mingle! We’ll provide coffee and breakfast bites - please bring a mug from home to keep with the zero-waste theme!
Bring your refillable containers (empty, clean/dry) to stock up on a selection of:
Bulk grocery staples - from olive oil and fresh nut butter to chocolate chips, flour and rolled oats
Home cleaning & detergents - plant-based and naturally derived detergents and non-toxic cleaners
Lifestyle & personal care - shampoo and conditioner, body wash, bubble bath, lotions, and more for you and baby
Download the Village General Store Shopping List (inventory varies so not all items will be in stock)
We love Village General Store & Refillery because all the products are carefully selected and sustainably sourced by the owner and our tour guide for this event, Colleen. Colleen left her corporate job to start Village General Store after becoming frustrated by the limited access to packaging-free products locally. We’re delighted to support this local, woman-owned business while introducing AWWEE members to sustainable options.
While there, you can also take advantage of their recycling programs for:
Beauty products and packaging - empty cosmetic, hair care, or skin care packaging
Burt’s Bees products - Are you a Burt’s fanatic? You can recycle the packaging at Village General Store
Air Freshener Aerosols - Any brand of air freshener cartridge, plugs, etc.
Metal Keys - Keys are collected and recycled into scrap metal. Also available for free for art projects.
Natural Wine Corks
Plastic Bags & Films - Grocery bags and other plastic films are recycled into Trex' composite decking
Razors and blades - All brands of disposable razors, blades, and plastic packaging
