Leadership in Action: A Behind-the-Scenes Experience at Burbank Water and Power

Begin with an intimate conversation featuring the General Manager of Burbank Water and Power (BWP), Mandip Samra, who will share her leadership journey—pivotal career decisions, challenges overcome, and the lessons that shaped her path to the top.

Then, go beyond the conversation with a guided tour of BWP’s EcoCampus, where sustainability and innovation come to life. Explore three LEED Platinum buildings and an award-winning, sustainably landscaped courtyard showcasing adaptive reuse structures, green roofs, architectural solar canopies, advanced water-capture systems, an iron-flow battery, and EV charging infrastructure. The tour also includes a look at the combined-cycle power plant operated by BWP and jointly owned by six utilities, offering rare insight into large-scale collaboration and operational excellence.

This immersive experience brings together leadership, innovation, and sustainability—providing inspiration, practical insight, and a unique opportunity to see purpose-driven leadership at work.


About Our Speaker:

Mandip Samra - General Manager, Burbank Water and Power

Mandip holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from UCLA, a Master’s in Public Administration from The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and a Master’s in Urban Planning from USC. She joined Burbank Water and Power in March 2021 as the Power Resources Manager before advancing to Assistant General Manager of Power Supply. In May 2024, she was appointed BWP’s General Manager.

Mandip began her career in 2004 as a Graduate Management Intern in the Customer Relations Division of Pasadena Water and Power. She has since held various management positions at Anaheim Public Utilities, Southern California Edison, and Pasadena Water and Power. Her expertise lies in power supply, focusing on regulatory compliance, Integrated Resource Plan management, power resource contract negotiations, transmission, and resource committee representation, as well as stakeholder engagement.
