October Salon: How to Cope with Climate Anxiety

Polling data shows that two-thirds of Americans feel anxious about climate change.  Given that many AWWEE members’ work is either focused on mitigating climate change or is impacted by it in some way, we bet the percentage of members of this community who are anxious about climate change is higher than the national average.

For this salon event, we’ll be discussing the April 13, 2023, episode of The Connection with Marty Moss-Coane podcast titled “How to Cope with Climate Anxiety”.  Join us to discuss how “eco-anxiety” is manifesting itself in your life,  to hear how others are coping and to share your own strategies, and to talk about how to turn feelings of anxiety into positive action.

In 18th century France, salons were gatherings, usually hosted by women, where people came together to discuss literature, politics, philosophy, or current events.

In AWWEE's salon events, we come together via Zoom to discuss a topic.  There will be no formal agenda or presentation during our gatherings.  The event is an opportunity to share our experiences and reactions, hear each other's perspectives, and discuss ideas, so we leave the event with a deeper understanding than we started with.

All participants must follow the AWWEE Salon Community Agreements:

  • Be respectful.

  • Assume positive intent.

  • Engage in dialogue, not debate.

  • Pause for self-reflection and to analyze your assumptions, behaviors, and experiences.

  • Be open, transparent, and willing to make mistakes.

  • Embrace the power of listening.

  • Be present.

  • Contribute to a trusting and safe space.

  • Allow others to share.

Registration is free and open to active AWWEE members plus one guest. Guest name and email required at registration.
