Join us for a two-part presentation on the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) by two experts from GEI Consultants. Originally designed as a day-long workshop, this series of two events will provide a brief overview of CEQA and discuss the approach for developing a defensible biological resources CEQA analysis for water projects.

Preparing a biological resources section (including setting, impact analysis, and mitigation measures)
Our presenters will provide real-world project examples and discuss potential vulnerability to legal challenge. This presentation aims to inform a wide variety of environmental professionals, including engineers responsible for project design, biologists responsible for completing the CEQA analysis, and project managers responsible for overall project success.
Part 1 is scheduled for January 31. Part 2 is scheduled for February 14. Both events will be held from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. PST. Both events will be recorded. All registered attendees will receive a link to view the recordings.
About Our Presenters:
Anne King, Senior Biologist at GEI Consultants
Anne King is a wildlife biologist, specializing in ornithology, with more than 27 years of professional experience. She has served as senior biologist and/or project manager for many projects involving biological survey and monitoring, CEQA/NEPA analysis, endangered species and wetland permitting, and construction monitoring. Anne has extensive experience working with clients and design teams to balance project needs with biological resource and permitting opportunities and constraints. She has engaged in agency consultation to ensure compliance with federal and state Endangered Species Acts and wetland regulations and has obtained numerous permits for take of listed species. She has also developed and implemented mitigation programs and Habitat Conservation Plans and coordinated habitat restoration planning, implementation, monitoring, and protection.
Kelly Fitzgerald-Holland, CWB, Senior Wildlife Biologist and Regulatory Specialist at GEI Consultants
Kelly Fitzgerald-Holland is a senior wildlife biologist and environmental compliance expert. She has over 27 years of experience in ecological research, program management, environmental regulation and compliance, and conservation planning. She has served as senior wildlife biologist and task lead manager for many projects that require endangered species permitting and biological analysis for California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/National Environmental Policy act (NEPA) compliance. Ms. Holland specializes in evaluating impacts on threatened and endangered wildlife species and their habitats and coordinating with resource agency staff to ensure compliance with the Federal and State Endangered Species Acts (ESA and CESA, respectively), including completing Section 7 consultation. Prior to her position at GEI, she spent 4 years conducting ESA consultations as a U.S Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) biologist, reviewing projects to assess impacts on listed species, providing technical assistance to minimize impacts on listed species, and preparing biological opinions for projects that impacted federally listed species and designated critical habitat.
