Climate and Energy: The Biden-Harris Administration and 117th Congress

Join us for a special overview of the new Administration and Congress focusing on climate and energy. You'll hear from AWWEE Board Member Dian Grueneich, Commissioner Emeritus of the CA Public Utilities Commission who has worked closely with the federal government throughout her career and testified in Congress. She'll cover federal appointees, the leadership and dynamics of the 117th Congress, Biden campaign promises, actions to date, and looking ahead, both nationally and internationally.

About our Speaker

Dian Grueneich is an internationally recognized energy and environmental policy expert. Dian began her career in the 1970s at the California Energy Commission and later founded her own law and consulting firm. She served as a Commissioner on the California Public Utilities Commission from 2005-2010Dian has been a member of the Electricity Advisory Committee of the U.S. Department of Energy and the External Advisory Committee of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. 

In 2014, Dian joined Stanford as a senior research scholar at the Precourt Energy Efficiency Center and at the Energy Policy Task Force.  In these roles, she led the university's engagement on state and regional energy issues and focused her research on the next level of energy efficiency. Dian also launched the Shultz Energy Fellowship program (previously called the Stanford Energy Internships in California and the West (SEICW) program) and created Stanford’s on-line California and Western Energy Lecture Series. Dian retired from Stanford in the fall of 2018 but remains affiliated as a Precourt Energy Scholar. Dian also continues as a member of the Shultz-Stephenson Energy Policy Task Force at the Hoover Institution and as an affiliated scholar with The Bill Lane Center for the American West.
