Cleantech startups in Los Angeles:
A visit to La Kretz Innovation Campus

Join AWWEE’s Orange County/Inland Empire and Los Angeles regional leadership teams as we spotlight the work of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), a local non-profit incubator to accelerate development of cleantech start-ups by offering flexible office space, CEO coaching and mentoring, and access to a growing network of experts and capital.

Also joining this event is the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power to share about their history, alliance, and work with LACI.

Following the presentation, LACI will provide a tour of the La Kretz Innovation Campus to gain a sneak peek at the various start-ups housed within as well as exploring the unique features of this special campus.

Speaker Bios

Estelle Reyes

Estelle Reyes is the Director of Community Engagement at LACI, where she focuses on creating a pipeline for all talent to enter the cleantech and sustainability sector.  She is building programming around high school student engagement, college internships, workforce development, and women in cleantech to capitalize on the rapidly growing green job market.  Previously, Estelle was the Executive Director at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Greater LA, a First Grade Teacher, and a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs. Estelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Brown University, and a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Aayushi Jain

Aayushi Jain currently works Cluster Associate at Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. In her role she leads the water efforts at the Incubator, including leading outreach efforts for the Department of Energy funded, SoCal Edge Program and supporting the partnerships team for research and strategy. Prior to that Aayushi worked at Sustainable Silicon Valley, as the water technology team member, supporting the Senior Water Director in on-site wastewater treatment policy and technology research. Aayushi has a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and recently completed her Certificate in Sustainability with UCLA Extension.

Steve Baule

Steve Baule is the Manager of Special Projects in the Office of Sustainability and Economic Development at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).

Currently he manages LADWP’s La Kretz Innovation Campus that promotes innovation in cleantech, energy efficiency and water conservation policies and programs in the City of Los Angeles. Steve is also currently on the steering committee for the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability (LARC). Prior to joining LADWP, Steve worked as a Community Development Coordinator throughout the 95 Neighborhood Councils in Los Angeles. He also was a full time college instructor at local Southern California colleges.

Steve has an MBA from the University of Southern California, an MA in History from Claremont Graduate University and BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Juniata College.
