Energy Storage: The Basics and Real-Life Applications in Southern California

Grid energy storage can be accomplished with many different technologies.  The state of California requires investor owned utilities to include energy storage in their generation portfolio.  With the proliferation of renewable energy on the electric grid, energy storage is the best technological partnership.  AWWEE’s Orange County/Inland Empire Regional Leadership Team invites you to learn more about energy storage and hear about specific examples of applications in Southern California from Al Kepuska, engineer with ENCO Utility Services.

Al Kepuska is Manager of Engineering and Planning for ENCO Utility Services.  Mr. Kepuska is responsible for electric distribution planning and engineering activities for all ENCO Utility Service’s projects.  More recent responsibilities include leading the business development effort to enter the energy storage market.  His background and training includes a wide range of disciplines, including electrical engineering, electronics, computer technology, telecommunication, finance, accounting etc.  He has a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and Masters of Science in Financial Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer, licensed in California.
